Introduction

Hi, my name is Irissah Tyson-King and this is my forth year at Rutgers-Newark. I will be graduating May 2021 with a degree in Journalism and Media Studies. I chose Journalism, because I love to write, mainly poetry and song writing, but I enjoy writing articles as well. My goal is to host my own talk show in New York that showcases young talent and discusses issues that young creatives alone face on a daily basis such as feeling rejected to society, maintaining good mental health, etc. (Simil

Besides writing, I love to sing. I began recording music in 2018 and released my first EP on January 11, 2020 titled "Luv Sick". I am grateful that I am able to combine my two passions: Journalism and Music. Painting is also a hobby of mine that I picked up about a year ago. I admire Frida Kahlo and her ability to express herself through art. She inspires me to do the same through music.

In essence, I appreciate all forms of art, because they allow us to express ourselves in a creative way. I would describe my personality as a social extrovert, because I am usually only social with my friends or when I am doing what I love.
